Beginnings

There is something I L<3VE about mornings. Perhaps its because you can see images like this one as the sun comes up and we all get ready for a new day. It’s a blank slate. The start of something with endless possibilities. It gives us the opportunity to forget about what may not have gone so well the day before and try again. It’s like life’s reset button.

Mornings are just one of the many examples I have that demonstrates a deeper passion of mine for beginnings. In school I was always ‘that kid,’ who got excited for the start of the school year. It offered a time to reflect back to the previous year and see how you wanted to change. How you could use the past to better yourself for the future.

This very concept was taught to me to win softball games by my little league coach. He’d tell us to breakdown each inning into its own game. “Win each inning,” he’d say, “But if you lose, don’t let that impact how you play the next.” Each inning a new beginning, a fresh start. At the end of the game the team that won the most innings would be deemed victorious.

It seems only appropriate I share my passion for beginnings now, as I craft my first blog post, since it’s the beginning of this blog and website. As I do, I can’t help but think about all the other beginnings happening in my life. Today I went on a six mile run with a friend. It was the beginning of my training for a half marathon I’ll be running in about a month. (Yes, you could say I am a little behind on my training, but none the less it’s still a start of something new.) I also have begun a new relationship, and that has me excited! … and a little nervous. But, just like all new beginnings it’s a blank slate with endless possibilities.
