Yes or No

If someone asked me for some “Wopschall Wisdom,” one thing I’d advise is to say, “Yes.” So many of the things I have experienced in my life have been because I was open and willing to try something new, I said, “Yes.” So, when I saw this picture on the front of “Psychology Today,” in the bookstore it startled me.

I quickly flipped through the pages to get to the article that would debunk my entire philosophy. It talked about addiction and how we need to set limits for ourselves. How, each person has boundaries and it’s important for us to say, “No,” when we may be overstepping them.

The theories behind “The Power of No,” were all reasonable. Well, at least I thought so, and since I am the girl that thinks, “Yes,” is the answer, I think that says something. But what I think it ultimately boils down to is moderation.

We need to find that happy place between, “Yes,” and, “No.” We need to say “Yes,” to experiences that will challenge us; Things that push us to places and perspectives we didn’t think we were capable. “No,” comes in handy when we feel that uneasy feeling. Feelings, where you think you can’t take on anymore than you already have going on, or when you feel like you are in a situation that isn’t right for you.

How do we know which one to choose? Well, you are your own best judge to figure out this balancing act. The good news though, you’ve got a 50/50 chance of getting it right.
