Some call it their quarter life crisis. I, on the other hand, like to keep it a little… less dramatic? Today is my 25th birthday and to reflect I thought the best way would be to share 25 life lessons I have learned over the past 25 years.
In no particular order…
Nothing is given in this world - receive everything with gratitude
Everything is best said, in person, face-to-face.
You are your biggest critic
Perspective changes how and why you think a certain way. Your perspective will also change as you grow
Happiness from material things have an expiration date
It’s best to be overdressed than underdressed
Tears aren’t a sign of weakness
To have success in anything it takes work. Work on your relationships, your career, and self.
Stay humble - the minute you think you are “too good” or “overqualified” you’ll find yourself back at the bottom of the food chain
Time is valuable - use it wisely
Always have a plan… then be prepared to improvise when that plan gets shot to hell.
As Momma Wop would say, money provides you with security, but money won’t make you happy
Find joy in the little things
All people must sleep, eat and wipe our hinnies - we are all human
Forgiveness is much lighter than the burden you carry holding a grudge
Everyone looks better sunkissed - lack of Vitamin D is a REAL thing
The hardest part of a run is lacing up your shoes
If you tell yourself you can, you will
Change is inevitable, the strongest adapt and survive
There is great beauty in imperfections
You never grow too old for shenanigans
Build relationships - they will reward you greatly
It’s okay to ask for help
True love is accepting someone for who they are - flaws and all
You’ll never get tired doing what you love - find your passion
