Years ago when I was applying for a “sorority like group” in college (Gonzaga University doesn’t have sororities, this particular service group, was the closest thing they had to it.), I was asked in my application form, “If you could stay one age for the rest of your life, which age would it be and why?”
I remember one of the girls reviewing the applications had told me she didn’t really like my answer, because in a way I didn’t answer the question. I said every age holds unique treasures that we get to experience, thus I would not pick one particular age. For example, a young child easily gets excited over an empty cardboard box and can play with it for hours. In this way their innocence and naivety is a beautiful thing and should be cherish.
Where I am right now, my mid-twenties, also has its perks. My responsibilities are slim to none. I can do what I want, when I want. Let’s be honest, it’s pretty awesome.
For many, mid-twenties also means wedding bells! No, not my wedding. My best friend from college will be wed in Denver in July, and I get to stand by her side!
Soon to be Mrs. Emmerson had asked the bridesmaids who don’t live in Denver to send our measurements to her, since we couldn’t go to the dress fitting. I thought I might be able to find the dress in Cincinnati to give her the exact size I would need. Turns out the store I went to only carried each dress in one size. The one I needed to try on was a size ten. Mission to go above and beyond = fail.

Remember, pictures can be deceiving… the back of that dress has several clips to make it conform to my body.
The gal at the store then took my measurements, so really nothing lost, just back to plan A.
This wedding is one I am very excited for. It will be the second wedding I attend that will be of a dear friend (The first wedding will be in June when my roommate from Wichita Falls gets married), and it will be the first wedding I will get to be part of the bridal party. Mid-Twenties ain’t so bad.
Remember, each moment in life’s journey has something of value. We should never get stuck wishing to be at one place. Frankly, that’s boring. Instead, enjoy the ride of life… no age or height requirement.
