“Fail to plan, plan to fail.” – Unknown

Happy Monday! You should know I planned for today. Yesterday, I wrote a list of things I needed to complete. Just a few tasks, going to the post office for more stamps, transfering some computer files, some business phone calls I needed to make, and writting this blog. (Maybe it doesn't sound like much but, I have learned I do much better with visually seeing what I need to get done, otherwise I don't think I have anything to do). Before I went to bed I also set out the things I would need to make doing the tasks easier.

Then, the snow came. I knew a storm was coming through but for whatever reason I thought most of the snow was coming tonight. I woke up earlier than usual to get my to-do list done before heading to work, but now I had to spend some of that time clearing the snow off my car… not to mention drive slower to the gym and back, that ice is slippery!

In life we will experience things we can't prepare for, but if we plan for the things we can prep for, those “surprises” become more manageable. I was so well prepared for today that the time I spent making my windshield visible didn't set me back too far. I took a step back, re-adjust my day by prioritize my tasks, and still found a way to get it all done.

There is no road map to life, but if we use the tools that we do have we can better navigate where we want to go. Planning is power.
