Motivational Monday - Snooze and Lose

I am a morning person. My ideal Saturday (if in fact I didn’t have to go to work) would be going on a long group run at 7:00 a.m. then going to get some brunch. My mom would have to be present for the meal because we have the best breakfast share plan. We always order some type of veggie omelet and whatever kinds of pancakes seem to catch our eyes while looking at the menu that day and split both right down the middle. We get our protein and veggies and something a little sweet. Win, win.
Despite enjoying starting my day early I still struggle getting out of bed in the morning, especially when during the week I don’t have to be at work until 11 a.m. I set my alarm somewhere between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. because I like to go to the gym and get a few tasks done before. If I don’t get things done before, it’s inevitable that they won’t get completed, I’m wiped when I come home.
I stumbled upon this article about how, “Why Hitting the Snooze Button Can Screw Up Your Entire Day.” This wouldn’t be the first time I have read an article like this. So if I know it’s not good for me, why do I continue to do it?
Last month when I made a commitment to myself, one of the things I put on my list of things I would do was get up at 6:30 a.m. I have been doing well at it. I have put my alarm clock further away from me so I have to get up to turn it off. This has helped.
Sometimes it’s hard to see the long-term benefit, specifically when you’re misty-eyed nestled so comfortably in your sheets. I will say though, never have I regretted getting up when my alarm clock went off because it only gives me more time to conquer my day.
