My Time Now

The last several weeks I have spent reaching out to contacts and other people in the news industry for advice. I like to hear how they got to where they are in their careers, show them my work, and get feedback.

One of those contacts told me to start blogging daily, rather than once a week, so we have him to thank for that. Of course you have days where you would rather not, but overall increasing my writing has been wonderful. It keeps me more present as I experience my day because I am constantly thinking about what I want to share. Blogging is in essence a journal. I have always been a big proponent of having one, the only difference is I have never made it a daily habit. Now that I have, I can see just how much it’s improving my overall well-being.

The same wise gentlemen who told me to blog more, also told me, “Now is the time you have time, use it wisely.” I’ve said it before, where I am in life, I really don’t have any responsibilities. My job is my only true responsibility. I don’t have a significant other, baby or family I have to take care of, just me. What I do right now with my time can greatly impact what and how my life will look in 10-15 years down the road.

I think we can create the future we want to have. It takes work. Sometimes that means skipping a night out with friends, or getting up early when you don’t want to, but to have what you want in the end, it’s worth it. So it’s time, right now, to begin using your time wisely and with purpose.
