A Friday Victory

When I walk out of work on Friday I feel like doing one of these.

Well, technically it’s not Friday, it’s Wednesday, (Wednesday is my Friday,) but you get the idea. Half of the feeling is excitement for my two days off, even if I don’t have any plans, the other half is relief. Phew, I survived.
Sometimes a week can feel like an eternity. Every task seems to be an obstacle. If it were a game you’d be losing, the umpire about to call the mercy rule on you. When I get overwhelmed like this I often take a step back and rather than looking at the whole picture, I look at each part of my week individually so it doesn’t seem so overwhelming.

Yep, I played softball. One of the best lessons I learned from my coach was to break down the game. Playing defense on the field, he’d tell us to win each out, one by one. When it was our turn at bat he’d tell us to win in the batter's box. Focus first on a hit. Then, think about moving your way around the bases to score. If we did this we would win each inning. If we won each inning we’d easily win the game.
The little things do add up, and if we focus on each task and do all of them well, we are bound to come out with a victory… and what better way to start a weekend then by celebrating it.
