Hope is a Beggar

At the end of every spin class I teach I play a motivational montage. The message always uplifts your spirit and refreshes your mind. As much as I would like to take credit for this idea, which I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from, I cannot because I took it from my spin certification instructor. Don’t worry, he knows I hijacked his teaching methods.
A few weeks ago I decided to implement the montages into my daily workouts. So, at the end of my cardio routine I’ll play one of the various motivational montages. It adds an extra jolt of energy to my workout right when I need it.
This morning as I was listening one line caught me. “I don’t believe in hope, hope is a beggar.” Instead the speaker asked you to take a chance on faith. At first you might think hope and faith can be used as synonyms. But faith has a crucial element that hope does not. Hope is an optimistic view, a longing for things in your life to get better in the future. Faith, is the belief that things will get better. There is no yearning, you are confident that things will in fact change for the better.
This may seem like a minuet difference but it’s this difference of desire to full belief. I think hope is a good thing, but it’s an empty promise without faith. Faith will get you to where you want to go, because you know deep down in your heart you’re already going to get there.
(This is not the video I listened to today, I can't find it on youtube anymore :( BUT... I wanted to share one of them with you so you can start listening to!)
