Expect Less, Get More

It would be a fair assessment to say I am an easily excitable person. I have been excited all week then I saw this video, which put me over the edge.

This is Saige. She is the daughter of my dear friend, Amy. I met Amy while living in Wichita Falls, Texas. She became my running buddy which also means she learned pretty much everything about me. (I have a tendency to divulge anything and everything on my mind when I have a running partner... particularly with Amy, she's a good listener.)

Amy, her husband J.D. and Saige will be my first visitors besides family since moving to Cincinnati. It’s been close to a year since I have seen them all. However, as excited as I am I try not to let my excitement create expectations for their trip.

Legend has it that girls spend their entire lives dreaming up their wedding day. The problem with something like this is if you imagine this big grand affair where everything is “perfect,” the bride the day of her wedding is bound to be upset with the results.

Be excited and look forward to future events but don’t create false realities. They will end up making you upset and disappointed, when in fact reality wasn’t bad, it was just not how you envisioned it. Keep an open mind and be happy with whatever life brings you… and tomorrow life is bringing me the Simmon’s family.
