"Good Job" For Good Work

Every now and then I hear a voice telling me “good job,” in my ear. Literally. For work I wear something called an IFB. It’s a device that lets me hear the producer, who is in charge of the entire newscast, back at the station. The producer will give me different time cues and directions.
Something I love about working at Fox 19 is what often happens at the end of my news report. Many of the producers will say a phrase of encouragement. It’s never anything grand, just something short and sweet. It’s those words however, that makes me feel appreciated.
So often in the work place good work goes unrecognized. However, when something goes wrong, it’s like you can’t escape the constant conversations of your bad deeds. Pointing out the positive is something so simply, yet its impact is monstrous. It creates a feeling of warmth for employees.
We all want to feel appreciated, and a simply “good job,” is an easy solution to give people the appreciation they deserve. Don't be shy to give a high five or point out someone's success... every office needs a cheerleader.
