Just Do It

As a few of my fellow cheerleaders and I waited for our turn to practice back handsprings with our gymnastics instructor during our high school cheer practice we chanted to ourselves, “Just do it.” We all had the mechanics. We knew how to throw the acrobatic stunt accurately. It was our doubt that was holding us back.

When it was our turn to perform the trick we would each stand with our hands raised out in front of us ready to make the jump. Then, we hesitated.

Last week I mentioned I am heading for the most uncertainty I have ever had in my life. To move forward I have begun to craft a plan, but it’s risky, very risky. I am pleasantly surprised because the risk is actually energizing me, something you wouldn’t expect an A-type individual to say. Currently the plan has me taking baby steps, looking to test the water. The electric energy I feel though has me thinking I should just play all my cards at once.

Risks have no guarantees. There is no way of knowing whether or not your hard work and discipline will reward you. Despite knowing this, I have a deep sense of faith I am on the path to greatness. I just want to do it. No hesitation. I want to dive into the water. I have a few more days before I make my final decision, but don’t be surprised when you hear an announcement that sounds a little crazy from me. “Crazy,” is what people told Steve Jobs he was when he wanted to create every single one of his innovations. So Maybe crazy, is exactly what I need right now.

(I apologize for the generalization of this post. I promise I will be more specific on my life plans next week. I hope it’s at least adding some enticement for you to continuing reading.)
