Next Chapter

Today is Wednesday. Hump day. My Friday… and it’s the last Friday I will have at Fox 19. Yes, ladies and gentlemen the big announcement is I will no longer be working at Fox 19. It was a decision that was made about three weeks ago.

Looking back to when I started in June I can’t believe how much I have learned. The most important lessons are the ones that taught me more about myself and where I want to be heading. So where exactly is that? Well, I don’t have it perfectly mapped out but I know I want to marry my two passions of storytelling with health and wellness.

The founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola told the Jesuits “Ite, inflammate omnia,” before parting ways after meetings. “Go, set the world on fire.” It’s a little bit of a rally cry meaning find your deepest passions and share them with the world. After my experience at Fox 19, I now feel I have a deeper understanding of my passions and how I wish to use them more than ever before. I plan to take that passion to New York City.

In a little over a week I will fly to the city for some informational interviews. I have a few companies I am actively seeking. I am not looking for any job, but one with a company that has values that connect with my own. My new job will also most likely not be “on-air.” I have realized that tying myself down to only on-air jobs leaves me boxed into only impacting the world in one way, through broadcast. I want to have the greatest impact and whatever platform provides that is where I want to be.

Leaving Fox 19 is sad. There are SO many smart, hardworking and talented people. Many of those people have been my guides while I have been there. I will miss them dearly. However I am ready for my next chapter of life. “The best is yet to come.”
