An Open Letter - Diving into Fear

Dear Friends,
Years ago I set out to build the kind of impact Oprah Winfrey has created. “I want to be the next Oprah,” I would tell people who asked me about my career aspirations. Many people would tell me to just get on YouTube, like it was that simple. However, at the time I felt I needed to pursue the dream in a more formulaic way. I went to Gonzaga to study broadcast journalism and have spent the last three years as a local TV news reporter.
In April I left the TV news industry. What I did not leave though, is the desire to impact the world as Oprah has, sharing stories that empower others. Today I am launching my video blog Off Air and Online. It’s mission is to uplift, enlighten, and encourage.
I have had so much support thus far. Frankly, I would not be doing this if it wasn’t for a handful of people bringing up the YouTube idea again and again to me after making the decision to leave TV news, but I need more support if I want to succeed.
Today I am beginning to release an episode each week. I ask you to watch Episode 1: Fear.
Afterwards I need you to like, share, and subscribe to the channel. If you believe in the channel’s mission, and more importantly if you believe in me, you will take the few minutes to spread the word. I truly believe this content is what the world needs to hear, and it can be heard if you help me to spread the message.
Next week I am interviewing Cincinnati Council Member Kevin Flynn, who, about a dozen years ago, became a quadriplegic after a bad car accident. He talks about how his relationships with God, his family and community helped him through his recovery and how he continued to reach his dreams despite the extra challenges he faced with his disability.
Thank you so much for loving and supporting me with your encouragement. It’s because I have had so many people in my life who believe in me that I am able to take risks, such as this new endeavor.
